Abernethy Heritage Garden

The beautiful, historic village of Abernethy is at the edge of Perthshire, on a key route from the Kingdom of Fife to Central Scotland and the Highlands. The Hatton Road Project will transform an unused plot into a colourful and restful garden.

We are the 'umbrella' Association for 48 voluntary groups who work in local communities across Perth and Kinross, Scotland. Our member groups run 'in Bloom' campaigns in their villages, towns and City, to make their communities beautiful places to live, work and visit.

Story

The Heritage Garden Project is an exciting development led by local voluntary group Abernethy in Bloom. Your donations will help transform what is a highly visible but currently unused plot, at the junction of Hatton Road and the main road, into a colourful and restful garden. The beautiful village of Abernethy is on the edge of Perthshire, on a key route from Fife to central Scotland and the Highlands. Many walkers and cyclists travel through the village without sampling the rich historical past Abernethy has to offer. We want to encourage people to stop and appreciate the past and the present. The project has the enthusiastic support of villagers, and with the help of an architect, a site plan has been produced. The garden will include seating areas, grass, trees and shrubs, historical interpretation, a central Tower feature, wildflowers, medicinal and herbal plants and gravel paths. It will be cared for by Abernethy in Bloom, so it will be very well looked after in years to come!
