Story

During Christmas week 2018, two of our main water pumps stopped working and gave us extra challenges as we struggled to get water to the cattery and kennel blocks. To replace the two offending pumps has cost us in the region of £10,000 and we would really like to recoup the cost of these items so it doesn't take away from our animal welfare income. This challenge is literally above and beyond the call of fundraising as we plan to abseil 140ft from the top of the Sheffield Hallam University, Owen Building.

I have an extreme fear of heights and although I really hope I can complete the task to raise the much needed funds for our charity, I won't be getting up there unless I reach my target to make it very worthwhile! If unlike me, this is something you'd love to have a crack at and you'd like to support our mission, your goal is simple. If you can raise £100 to do the abseil, you can take part in the event for FREE.

We need around 50 people to do the event and you can register for this by sending your JustGiving fundraising page details to fundraising@rspcasheffield.org. Just leave your name and the webpage address for JustGiving donations and I will make a note of every person taking part. Once I have your details, I will send your allocated abseil time to your email address. You are able to fundraise as a corporate group but when registering your team please remember that you must raise £100 for each person who plans to abseil.

Hourly abseils from 10.00am till 6.00pm, once registered, please make sure you arrive 45 minutes before your time allocation to receive your safety briefing.

About the charity

RSPCA Sheffield Branch is a separate charity to the National RSPCA and relies on your support to operate. We rehabilitate, retrain and rehome rescued animals. We do not put healthy, rehomeable animals to sleep. Thank you to all our supporters
