There are approx 86,000 deaf people in NI. Deaf people often face the same emotional and mental health issues that may face anybody in their lifetime, such as depression, anxiety, low self esteem and suicidal thoughts. However deaf people are also unable to access help through many of the services and means of communication that many hearing people take for granted everyday. Being deaf can be very isolating, and many deaf people may feel cut off, ostracised and discriminated against in society. Many deaf people are also often victims of trauma or abuse.
Our Deaf Counselling Service is the only one of it's kind in Northern Ireland, facilitated by a counsellor who is fluent in sign language. This eliminates the need for an interpreter, allowing the deaf person to feel comfortable opening up to the counsellor.
Please donate to our fundraiser to help us continue to support deaf people, and to help us raise awareness of this service to more deaf people in NI!
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
