Story

Interestingly, back in 1455 Threave Castle, west of Castle Douglas was the last castle to fall in the Black Douglases uprising against Henry VI, and Royal forces arrived in June. This uprising was in response to William, the 8th Earl of Douglas senseless demise, and the people of Dumfries & Galloway stood strong.

Not that I am comparing COVID-19 with Henry VI but we do find ourselves standing strong together while we are some of the last ones to be besieged in lockdown. We want to express that strength, positivity and hope to the world.

So, what we are asking is if during June, would you be willing to support our Absolute Champions who are composing, improvising or interpreting a short piece of music (with or without words) that is inspired by our beautiful region of Dumfries & Galloway. Then at the end of June we will post these on the Absolute Classics dedicated YouTube channel and our other social media pages in celebration of our solidarity and collective courage to stay home and fight this virus.
