7th May 2024 - Update
We are delighted to announce that Annie successfully ascended to the top of Glastonbury Tor. Well done Annie !!! Annie completes the AAA challenge with help from some incredible friends and Glastonbury Firefighters.
Quote from Annie...
"I had the most amazing experience of being up there, which is an extraordinary, unique place.
The team of about 20 Devon and Somerset firefighters took it in turns to push and pull me with ropes up the path which was 260 steps and almost perpendicular in places.
I was quite fearful beforehand, but actually on the day I was not frightened at all because the firefighters are the most unpanicked people you could ever meet.”
We would like take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all those who donated, we shall be sending donations to Humanity and Inclusion and Motivation very soon, see further details below.
AAA Challenge
Annie Maw, patron of Festival Medical Services will be ascending to the summit of Glastonbury Tor. No easy task when she has to do it in a wheelchair. Access for those who live with disabilities has always been important to Annie and never more than in these times of conflict. The Glastonbury Tor Assisted Ascent is being organised and managed by Festival Medical Services in aid of Motivation and Humanity and Inclusion.
Your donation will be divided between the two charities:
One third to Motivation - An international disability and inclusion charity providing wheelchairs, training and support to empower disabled people in Africa and India to gain independence, improve their confidence and transform their own lives.
Two thirds to Humanity and Inclusion - An international charity working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. Working tirelessly alongside disabled and vulnerable people to help meet their basic needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights.
