Story

This concert is a musical tribute to Samuel Roquette in aid of Barretstown. Samuel died in December 2019 of a sudden relapse of Leukaemia. He was a happy, active boy who played oboe with the Rathfarnham Concert Band. He loved making stop motion animation films and founded Siamsa Animations with his best friend Sebastian.

Samuel enjoyed several camps in Barretstown both with his family and on his own. Barretstown held a special place in Samuel's heart and he hoped to volunteer there when he was older. Barretstown offer therapeutic recreation to children affected by serious illnesses and it is a place where they can rediscover fun and childhood away from hospitals and treatment.

Samuel's family, friends and the Gaudete Singers have come together to organise this concert in the beautiful and unique setting of Monkstown Church of Ireland, to raise much needed funds to allow Barretstown continue their work, particularly the upgrading of the Medical Shed.

The concert will include

- Rathfarnham Concert Band

- Gaudete Singers (conducted by David Leigh)

- Helen Hancock (soprano) and Claire Duff (violin) with David Leigh (organ)

- Wesley Class of 2022 Chamber Choir (conducted by Siofra Stewart Munnelly)

- Sarah Kinlen (singer songwriter)

- Jessica Harris (oboe and voice) and June Robbins (piano) - Samuel's music teachers.

A wide variety of music and genres will be performed in what is promised to be an uplifting musical evening.

Tickets should be purchased in advance and we would recommend early booking as space is limited. If you're unable to attend, but would still like to support this event - no need to buy a ticket, but donations can be made using the donation tab under tickets.
