Visit the charity's profilePre-pandemic, disadvantaged pupils were already, on average, 18 months behind their peers by the end of secondary school. The pandemic and subsequent school closures has pushed pupils from low-income backgrounds even further behind their peers, with evidence suggesting pupils living in 'persistent disadvantage' (i.e. on Free School Meals for more than 80% of their school life) are now more likely 22 months behind their peers, on average.
Disadvantaged pupils have as much will, want and determination as their more affluent peers, but often lack the tools to help them succeed.
At Action Tutoring, we know we can make a positive difference to the education, and thus life, of a child or young person. By volunteering as a tutor or donating to us, you are helping a young person build their maths or English subject knowledge, confidence and growth mindset, opening opportunities for them in education and the working world.
