We are a charity that was created by our forever CEO, Adam Watson, who courageously battled leukaemia for 33 months with hope and positivity. Through the charity we will continue to grow his legacy by helping to improve the patient and carer experience on the Children’s Haematology and Oncology ward.
Why are we called BPOSITIVE?
At the age of 7 years old our son Adam was diagnosed on 21st October 2019 with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML).
Adam underwent 4 rounds of intense chemotherapy to try and cure his sick blood which was blood group O Positive!
On 29th February 2020 he completed his last chemotherapy and on his 8th birthday in September 2020 he rang the bell to signal end of treatment.
Just over 3 months later on 30th December 2020 Adam was diagnosed with a relapse of his sick blood, having had a total of 10 months in remission.
In early 2021 Adam underwent even more intense chemotherapy under the care of the Belfast team based in the Children’s Haematology Unit in the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children. On 26th April 2021 we as a family flew to Manchester and on 5th May 2021 Adam received a cord blood transplant, taking cells from a British umbilical cord of a baby girl that was born in 2016 which were transplanted into his body with the hope of curing him. This transplant would eventually change his blood type from O positive to B positive. From that day on BPOSITIVE was born. A perspective we now try to use daily.
Unfortunately, in October 2021 we found out Adams transplant was unsuccessful and after yet more intensive chemotherapy we could never get the disease level low enough to get back to Manchester for a 2nd transplant. Following a long, courageous battle with AML, Adam sadly passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday 3rd August 2022.

How do BPOSITIVE aim to raise money?
Through charitable donations.
How will BPOSITIVE use the money raised?
As a family we have spent a lot of time on the Children’s Haematology and Oncology ward. Through first-hand experience we know the weekends can be particularly long and boring so we would like to provide some interactive gaming that kids can use at their leisure to help make their day go that little bit quicker.
From early 2024 we will provide each family entering the ward with a good size suitcase. This will help families keep all their belongings together and ease the journey to and from hospital. Looking ahead we would hope this suitcase would include toiletries for both mum and dad as well as pyjamas for the child. We also hope to provide a suitcase to any families having to head to another country for cancer related treatment or other lifesaving procedures.
We have other friends who have experienced heart ache and tragedy of their own through various circumstances and we would hope that BPOSITIVE creates a positive message for all regardless of their circumstance.
