Story

We are supporting more people in our community affected by dementia than ever before! Last year alone, we extended our support to nearly 4,800 people, a significant increase from the 800 individuals we were helping just five years ago. While some of this growth can be attributed to the expansion of our services into new areas, the reality is that more and more people are being diagnosed with dementia, and the complexity of their needs is increasing.

Although for some in society Covid-19 is not too much of a concern anymore, for those living with dementia COVID-19 had a profound impact and continues to do so. The loneliness and isolation led to a decline in their cognitive abilities and mobility. Many individuals have lost confidence in leaving their homes, and long waiting lists at memory clinics have only added to the challenges they face.

Despite the many obstacles we face, ADSS remains committed to providing people affected by dementia in our community with the support they need to live fulfilling lives. We are proud to be making a real difference in the lives of those living with dementia and their families.

Broadening our services comes at a huge cost, and as necessary as the funding for our new contracts is, it was never intended to meet the full cost of care or provide any assistance in delivering the fun and engaging social activities that our service users have come to depend on and find extremely rewarding. However, with your help, we can continue to expand our services and provide vital support to those who need it most.
