Edinburgh Leisure is a charity that creates opportunities for people to lead more active, healthy lives. We raise funds for our Active Communities Programme, which uses physical activity to improve the lives of people affected by poverty, inequalities, disabilities or health conditions.

Story

Active Communities

Our Active Communities programme supports around 12,500 people a year to get active to improve their health and wellbeing.

Being active is key to enjoying a healthy lifestyle and feeling good. Even the simplest of changes can lead to big results. As a charity, Edinburgh Leisure is on a mission to help people lead more active, healthy lives and we can help you do just that.

Ageing Well

Ageing Well is a set of activities delivered through our Active Communities programme that support older adults to stay active and connected in later life, offering a range of fun, sociable and low-cost activities led by friendly trained staff and volunteers. Activities include everything from gardening and board games to walking and buddy swimming.

My grandmother has early-stage dementia and attends Ageing Well. It's so good for her to have at least one day where she gets fresh air and exercise. The volunteers and other participants are all very supportive. It helped with the loss of my grandad last January, as she has found more friends her age she can relate to. It’s really valuable for her physical and mental wellbeing.
