The Aysanew Kassa Trust was set up in memory of Aysanew Kassa, to fulfil his dream of changing lives through education in Gondar (Ethiopia). We sponsor some of the poorest students in the region through school and university, and work with local institutions to improve the facilities they offer.

Story

The Aysanew Kassa Trust was set up in 2000 to support the young people of Azezo, Ethiopia, in their education. We sponsor some of the poorest students in the region through school and university; and work with local schools and government institutions to improve the facilities they offer, helping the children of Azezo achieve their potential. We also support St Raphels Residential School for Blind and Partially Sighted Children, run by the Daughters of SantAnna, improving access to education for blind children in the area.

Covid-19 has hit our students and beneficiaries hard, as schools were shut and exams postponed. The Daughters of SantAnna have had the additional financial burden of looking after an extra years worth of studentsthose whose university start was delayedas well as keeping the children safe from covid and helping them to study remotely.

We are raising funds to support the greater number of students we will be sponsoring next year; as well as to assist St Raphels Residential School for Blind and Partially Sighted Children in their important work to improve access to education for blind children.
