Alex, The Leukodystrophy Charity (Alex TLC) was founded in 2004 by a mother whose two sons had been diagnosed with leukodystrophy. She recognised the severe lack of information and support available and wanted to make sure that no one had to face leukodystrophy alone.

Story

The Alex TLC Community Weekend is an annual highlight for the leukodystrophy community. It brings together patients, carers, families, doctors, researchers, scientists, and patient advocates from around the world to engage in meaningful discussions about leukodystrophy and its impact on both patients and those who care for them.

Amazing event. It was so nice to meet people with similar conditions and be able to share experiences and information. Also very heartening to see how passionate some of the professionals are about helping.

As far as we are aware, we are the only charity to host an event where those affected by leukodystrophy, their families and carers, can attend free of charge.

We provide accommodation, meals, childcare, and entertainment, whilst creating an opportunity for patients and carers to hear from leukodystrophy professionals, and connect with others who truly understand what they are going through.

Afterwards I felt optimistic, and I enjoyed meeting people who understood what leukodystrophy is without having to explain it.

We strive to cover the majority of costs through donations from our corporate partners. However, we need your support to raise the full amount required.

Please donate today if you can.

Thank you.
