ALG Pre-Schools - affectionately known as Escolinhas, in portuguese - offer disadvantaged children aged 3-5 access to pre-school education and school meals in a safe and educational environment. Escolinhas ALG give vulnerable children without the means to attend a kindergarten daily access to classes where they are occupied, developing their skills, study habits and reducing marginalisation at pre-school age. Children at risk of becoming ‘street children’ receive attention, care and a guaranteed daily meal at EFI Escolinha Flor da Infância, ESC Escolinha de Santa Catarina and Escolinha de S. Vicente de Paulo SVP.

For an annual cost of around £300 per child, ALG funds two meals a day, school supplies, uniforms and the support of specialised teachers and monitors at the ESC, EFI and SVP pre-schools.

ALG's Escolinhas alleviate local poverty and promote an educated childhood for young and very deprived children.
