Story
#AllDoorsOpen
Ormiston Families provides the tools, the empathy, and the connections which enable individuals to grow in confidence, to choose their own door, and to walk through it with hope for a brighter future.
Serving families across the East of England since its first families centre launched in Ipswich in 1981, Ormiston Families delivers a powerful and diverse range of services which include:
- Supporting children who have parents in prison.
- Improving the self-esteem and relationship experiences of women.
- Assisting mums and mums-to-be with mental health and wellbeing needs.
I cannot tell you how incredibly important the work of Ormiston Families is in facilitating proper family visits... When you're inside, those visits become the thing you think about and prepare for for days. They're also the thing which gives you a sense of hope that the glue between you and your family is still there and that you're still a part of them, as they are of you. What Ormiston Families does so incredibly well is that they make it possible for you to be down on the floor of a room of toys, playing with your children and grandchildren. You're treated like a person of worth in that family life. You're not just looking at someone across a table in a visiting hall which is an awful experience for anyone." - David, ex service user
We would welcome your donations and support as we bid to help yet more families in the years ahead, following the challenging period created by the pandemic since March 2020.
Your donations could help in the following ways:
- £10 could fund a support phone call to an isolated parent.
- £40 could fund a face-to-face support session.
- £100 could fund a practitioner for a day.
