Our charity is based in Newark on Trent and provides first aid training and event cover in Newark and across central and north Nottinghamshire and west Lincolnshire. Formed in 2013 all of our members are volunteers.
Our event first aid services have grown annually with the exception of the Covid years and 2025 seems likely to again be a record based on bookings to date. Our aim is to provide a high quality, reliable and well resourced service and feedback from event organisers and patients alike confirms we achieve this.
Being based in a rural area means many events are held at venues that have no buildings suitable or available as first aid posts. We therefore provide Mobile Treatment Units (MTU’s) at no additional cost to event organisers. These vehicles provide hygienic, private facilities and allow us to control the temperature as required by the patient. The vehicles are designed as front-line ambulances and we use them as on-site ambulances – allowing us to reach incidents and move patients safely. In 2022 we built a First Aid Centre on Newark Showground thus allowing us to use our current MTU’s more widely at community events. With growing demand for our services though we now need a new vehicle.
We are planning to purchase the same type of vehicle that we currently operate. The MTU is based on a Renault Master with the Ambulance Conversion by BAUS AT a Polish Ambulance Manufacturer. They produce an excellent specification with plenty of storage space, easy clean surfaces, high quality fixtures and fittings with excellent design. An identical layout ensures our team can quickly locate equipment, lightweight loading ramp reduces the risk of injury to our members and space heaters and aircon allows us to achieve the correct temperature for patients. We know from experience this is the vehicle that meets our needs and those of the patients we treat.
The cost is £80,000 for the vehicle plus £15,000 for the stretcher. We have allocated £35,000 from our funds and have received £25,000 in grants so we need to raise £35,000. During 2025 we are planning a range of fundraising events including a Christmas Raffle.
We appreciate donations and it would be great if the local community could organise fundraising events for us. If you can help us to help others please get in touch. Tel: 07973 904808
