Story

Can you take some steps to help disabled children this Autumn? Footsteps Foundation needs your help to continue their vital work. We have improved the lives of hundreds of disabled children, helping them to reach their full potential through our life-changing physiotherapy. Can you take on a challenge this October to help raise some funds? Pledge your challenge and ask friends and family for sponsorship. We are collectively going to reach One Million Steps for Footsteps! Our small charity has lost thousands of pounds of fundraising income these past months and we are now coming together to help disabled children and keep this brilliant service going.

November Update: We would like to thank everyone who has taken part in the challenge or donated so far - you have made a real impact! Our incredible fundraisers have ensured we will be able to continue offering our life-changing support for the months to come and we are humbled by the response. We have raised enough to fund approximately 1,700 hours of therapy for disabled children. Each year Footsteps Foundation funds around 2,600 hours for 100 children, and prior to the pandemic we have relied on businesses, community and sponsored events for around half our income. The incredible generosity of people donating to #AMillionStepsforFootsteps in these tough times means we can currently maintain our services for those in need.  We still have a few teams, families and schools doing challenges for us in November and December so #AMillionStepsforFootsteps continues!

UPDATE: With just a few days to go, our fabulous supporter have pledged a total of 13,356,512 steps - over ten thousand kilometres!!! We are so humbled by the show of support for disabled children. We have people around the UK as well as New Zealand, Singapore and New York, running, painting pictures, playing video games, taking on wheelchair treks, swimming, cycling, hill-walking, post-op rehabilitating, golfing, cycling and generally pulling out all the stops to support our work. A Million Thanks for coming together to collectively achieve something great in these difficult times!!

UPDATE: Three weeks in and we have been bowled over by the support - your generosity means that disabled children will continue to be supported at Footsteps in these trying times. Footsteps children and young people are giving back to the charity that helps them - we have had many families joining our challenge and we wish them all the best of luck: Ronnie with his (nearly completed) 5k walk; Emily's half-term 30 minute treadmill challenge; Charlotte who is taking on 5km stretches of the Ridgeway in her wheelchair; Thomas who will be walking, swimming and biking in 30 minute stints; and of course Minty who has been doing (a minimum of) 2k treks every day! Don't forget to check our social media for pics and videos of all the challenges. Thanks to all our wonderful supporters, we have had over 9 million steps pledged so far!

UPDATE: Two weeks in and we have received a spectacular 8.5 million steps in pledges!!! One of our supporters did a 24hr round-the-clock 100km hike and another completed 100km by bike! What an impressive bunch of wonderful humans. Do keep checking our social media for all the stories!

UPDATE One week in and we have been bowled over by the fantastic support! We have smashed through the million steps mark straight away and we want everyone taking this challenge to know that they are making a huge difference to disabled children's lives PLEDGED STEPS SO FAR: 7 Million!!!
