Story
Nithushan (Age 29) was once an active para-athlete who proudly participated in Tamil Para Sports events.
However, when revisited two years later, his condition had worsened drastically—he was bedridden and suffering from severe bedsores. His family, though caring, lacked the proper knowledge, training, and resources to manage his condition.
DATA Charity intervened, supporting him through surgery and recovery.
This case was not isolated. Many individuals with spinal cord injuries, even after receiving initial treatment, were repeatedly developing bedsores due to inadequate follow-up care at home.
In response, DATA Charity began consulting with medical professionals and rehabilitation specialists to better understand long-term care needs. These consultations confirmed the urgent necessity for a dedicated care facility—equipped to provide ongoing medical support, caregiver training, and rehabilitation services.
This led to the birth of Ammai Appan Home for Differently Abled—a safe and compassionate space for individuals with severe disabilities who require specialized care and consistent support.
