Story

RAMADAN 1446 (2025) UPDATE

By the grace of Allah (SWT), we have successfully built four homes, providing security and stability for families who were previously displaced. Two more homes are currently under construction, bringing us closer to our goal.

Four families have now moved into their new homes, safe from the devastating impact of the Kushiyara River. As you can see in the video below, work is still underway—but we need your support to complete the remaining homes.

Please give generously and help us finish this project, ensuring that all 12 families have a safe place to call home.

RAMADAN 1444 (2023) UPDATE - We are now raising funds to start the construction of homes, please give generously.

In 2022, the land that was secured for this project was excavated and compacted to ensure a solid substrate underpins the foundations of the homes we intend to build for the families impacted by the floods. We have also built a temporary shelter, please see below the journey we have been on. Thank you for your continued support, without your help we would not have achieved this significant milestone.

Campaign Information

The Kushiyara River continues to cause devastating impact to the livelihoods of hundreds of people.

Akakhazna is a town within the Kurarbazar Union part of the Sylhet District which is located in the north east of Bangladesh. Cutting through the region is Kushiyara River that flows down from India where dams regularly overflow causing mass distraction and chaos on an annual basis.

The riverbanks of the Kushiyara River in Akakhazna continues to deteriorate leading to significant proportions of the land in close proximity to collapse. Several families have already been displaced and even more people are due to be impacted in the coming years.

Following their homes being washed away, many of these families are now sleeping rough and reliant on handouts for basic necessities such as clean water and food. The families do not have the necessary funds to procure land and build new shelter.

The impacted families consist of the young, the elderly and the vulnerable, and sadly the effects of this displacement will last generations. However, with your help we can make a difference and provide shelter to these families and supply them the tools to work their way out of poverty.

We are building 12 shelters to house 60 people for which are we are now raising funds for so please give generously.
