We hope you will join this effort to recognize and thank Dr. Anderson for all he has done for his various communities, whether at Stillman College, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Omega Psi Phi, University Athletics, or others.
What better place to honor his legacy than at his undergraduate alma mater, Stillman College. As Dr. Anderson says, "Stillman is my heart." When told a group of his former advisees wanted to honor his mentorship with a token of gratitude, he asked that we do so by supporting students, particularly those from Greene County, Alabama, where he grew up. What a wonderful way to embody the philosophy of "each one, teach one" and support a young person in their pursuit of higher education. It is also an example of why Dr. Anderson is so beloved.
In that spirit, we have created the James D. Anderson Endowed Scholarship which will pay tuition, fees, and living expenses for one student each year in perpetuity.
To fully endow the scholarship, we must reach $25,000 in donations.
We are hoping to move quickly to reach the $25,000 threshold since Dr. Anderson will be a speaker at Stillman College's commencement ceremony on May 6, 2023. It would be lovely to have the scholarship ready to be announced then.
All amounts are welcome! Please donate soon so that we can reach our goal and support a Stillman College student ASAP.
