One of our Trustees, Andy Emerson is about to embark on the Camino de Santiago (Ingles) 126.8 km walk from Ferrol to Santiago in Northern Spain. Breaking the walk over 5 days rather than 4 (23rd March to 27rth March) will hopefully alleviate some of the challenges that Andy and his friends will face. Andy has been a Trustee of the Pernicious Anaemia Society for the last18 months and would like to take this opportunity to use the walk to fundraise for PAS with the aim of supporting our current projects and future activities of the charity.
As a Trustee, Andy sees all the hard work the volunteers at the Pernicious Anaemia Society put in behind the scenes. Raising awareness, lobbying and researching ways for better diagnosis and treatment is fundamental to improving the lives of people with this autoimmune condition.
It's a long and gruelling walk, we've seen the terrain and itinerary and it looks very hilly with challenging distances each day. Many of us with Pernicious Anaemia find challenges in every day life to just function let alone set off on a journey like this so we are so grateful that Andy has aligned his personal challenge alongside raising money for our cause.
Andy will be sending training news over the next few weeks and updates during the walk on the Pernicious Anaemia Social Media Accounts so make sure you are following us on Facebook and Instagram!
