I'm walking 100 miles along the Sussex Hospice Trail, covering around 10 miles a day, to raise much needed funds to provide palliative care for cancer patients living in the Rwenzori district surrounding Kagando hospital.
Over 50% of people in rural areas of Uganda have no access to health care.
The Kagando Hospital Mobile Hospice delivers palliative care to terminally ill patients who would otherwise receive no follow up care for their cancer.
Specially trained nurses, similar to the MacMillan nurses in the UK, are trained to assess and prescribe for patients but also give holistic support to the whole family.
With your support we can cover the costs of vital pain-relieving drugs such as morphine as well as fuel, mileage and upkeep of the Landcruiser used to deliver the care.
£2 will pay for 1 months supply of paracetamol per patient
£25-£30 approx. covers fuel, mileage and staff allowances per community outreach.
£25 will assist a patient and carer with the return journey to Kampala for chemotherapy.
Around £100 will pay for a new tyre for the Landcruiser.
I really appreciate all you can give.
Best wishes
Ann
