Story
I am a 54 year old wife and mum and Manchester on 19th April will be my first marathon. I have ran a few half marathons and last year I ran twice in Europe for the first time which was amazing.
I will never be the fastest but I am resilient and barring any disaster on the way round, I will complete the 26.2 miles. My training has been slow and steady due to an injury last year but so far so good. For me as a first time marathoner its definitely finish lines not finish times!
I am running for Medics against Violence as I firmly believe violence is preventable not inevitable.
Medics against Violence is a small award winning Scottish charity trying to do amazing things. They aim to tackle violence in all its forms as well as the issues that come along with it. They work closely with partners because the one thing they are sure of it that we will only achieve good outcomes if we all work together. They run MAV Schools, an education programme for young people run delivered by volunteer medics, Ask Support Care, a domestic abuse training initiative, and the Navigator family of hospital based support programmes in 10 hospital emergency departments across Scotland.
