Like you, we believe that not being able to afford an abortion is a terrible reason to become a parent.

And with wider, though not perfect, access for people from Ireland, Northern Ireland and, very soon, the Isle of Man, fewer people than ever are in that position this Valentines Day. And its something that wouldnt have happened without your support.

But as a brilliant supporter like you said to us last year, ASN is more than a charity, its about solidarity. So we cant rest on our laurels. Weve promised to be here for everyone in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man who still needs us. And now we want to be here for even more: women stuck in the same horrendous situations. Living where abortion is totally illegal (or only allowed if youre literally dying).  

And those places are closer than you might think.

This Valentines day, will you help us spread the love to Malta and Gibraltar?

Malta is the only country in Europe where abortion is totally illegal; Gibraltar allows abortion only to save a womans life. Like all our past clients, if you have a crisis pregnancy there, you have to make some hard choices: order safe but illegal pills online; leave your country to get an abortion (if you can afford it); or continue a pregnancy you cant cope with.

We believe help shouldnt depend on luck. And we believe stories like Tanias are no more acceptable in Malta than they are in Ireland, Northern Ireland, or the Isle of Man.

We dont want to leave anyone behind, no matter where they are - which is where you come in.

Since the result of the Irish referendum last year, weve been plotting and planning, working closely with activists in Malta and Gibraltar. And today, were opening a helpline to be there for women like Tania who have nowhere else to turn.
