Centrepoint is the UKs leading charity for homeless young people, aged 16-25. Even before the pandemic youth homelessness had reached crisis point: over 120,000 young people were homeless or at risk of homelessness in the twelve months leading up to March 2020.
Since the first lockdown, calls to Centrepoints Helpline increased by a third, and growing numbers of young people have been unable to work and face eviction.
The past year has taught us all how important it is to have a safe place to call home. But for so many young people, home isnt a safe place. Many face violence, abuse, family breakdown and problems with mental health and become homeless because it is safer to leave home than to stay.
Last year Centrepoint supported 14,000 homeless young people with more than just a safe place to stay. To get them ready to live independently, Centrepoint offers mental health support and provides training and education in everything from basic life skills to supporting young people applying for university.
Your support could be the turning point for a homeless young person. You could give a young person a safe place to call home and the help they need to rebuild their lives.
