Max is 8 years old, he is our beautiful, funny, whirlwind of a little boy full of energy, mischief, and so much love. Max was born bilaterally profoundly deaf and underwent cochlear implant surgery at just 11 months old. After that, he did incredibly well, he began learning words, developing, and we truly believed we were hearing his voice begin to emerge. At around two years old, everything changed when Max was diagnosed with autism. Since then, Max has become non-verbal. And as his parents, there is nothing we long for more than to hear his voice one day.

The Challenges Max Faces

Max lives with complex needs every single day. He is non-verbal, has pica, a very limited diet, incontinence, and ongoing gastrointestinal issues that affect his comfort and wellbeing. Life can be incredibly challenging for him but, he continues to shine in his own unique way. He is joyful, determined, and brings light to everyone who meets him.

Why Just4Children are Fundraising

We have worked tirelessly through our own means and fundraising to give Max opportunities that could change his future. So far, we have managed to fund five stem cell therapy treatments around the world. Each one has brought hope, small steps forward, and the possibility of something life changing. However, due to limited funds, we have not yet been able to secure his final two treatments.

We are now desperately trying to raise enough to continue.

Why This Matters So Much

For Max, finding his voice would change everything. Being able to communicate, to tell us what he needs, how he feels, what he dreams would open his and our entire world. Every treatment brings us closer to that possibility. Closer to hearing “Mum.” Closer to understanding him fully.
