Ayr's Gaiety Theatre is a local landmark, and an iconic part of Ayr town centre. We bring a vibrant theatre programme to stages across Ayrshire. Between our main stage, studio and rural touring programmes, you can be sure that there's a brilliant night out at the theatre waiting for you at The Gaiety - right on your doorstep.
The Gaiety is so much more than a theatre however. Our goal is to increase individual and community wellbeing through the performing arts - ensuring that everyone who comes to Ayrshire has access to the performing arts.
We're doing this through a range of community-based activity. With projects such as our creative engagement and volunteering programmes, we offer real opportunities to allow the Ayrshire community - and beyond - to engage with our theatre.
Since it first opened in 1902, The Gaiety has survived fires, world wars and most recently, a global pandemic. It's been far from an easy road for your plucky little theatre, and the timeline of The Gaiety can be defined as much by the series of minor disasters its overcome as by its successes.
Our ambitions are infinite. Our resources are not.
Each year, we need to raise £150,000 to keep your Gaiety Theatre open. A team of Gaiety walkers will be completing the Glasgow Kiltwalk on April 26th and 27th in aid of this. We're hoping to raise £10,000 from this event alone - making a real difference, both immediate and lasting, to keeping The Gaiety here for you and others.
