Our 2018 Grand Canyon Trek sets off on Friday 24th August with 11 intrepid trekkers taking part, raising much needed funds for the hospice. Our trekking party includes Nicola Hume, Lucy Fawcett, Donna Campbell, Alan Clark, Steven Fawcett, Colin Young, Stewart Lindsay, Graham Kirkwood and Chris McMail. All have been fantastic supporters of the hospice. Both Graham and Chris are also business ambassadors for our charity. Heading up the group will be Graeme Strawhorn, Senior Fundraising Officer at the Hospice. And, finally, the 11th trekker will be our very own Hospice Bear, our challenge Mascot; Hamish (pictured).

All have chosen to support the hospice in this very special way for a variety of reasons personal to them and we at the Ayrshire Hospice welcome you to support their fundraising efforts. Over the past few months they have all taken on a huge challenge in raising £4,000 per person. From Bake Sales to Pub Quizzes, Fashion Shows to Golf Days, Murder Mysteries to Race Nights all have worked tremendously hard to fundraise for the hospice. Thank you to everyone who has supported all the trekker's individual fundraising efforts, event and activities! So far they have all raised a fantastic amount and wed love you to help them top up their fundraising total as the trek develops. As always, funds raised from challenges like this will be used to help improve the quality of each day for our patients, helping them to live as actively as they can to the end of their lives however long that may be and wherever that may be. The care we provide to our patients and their families is at no cost to themselves however, it does require us to fundraise £4.3 million from voluntary and other sources. The ongoing commitment, energy and passion from the community is humbling and is certainly support we couldnt do without.
