Babycontrol Apnoea Monitors for the NNU

Organised by First Touch

First Touch has been asked to fundraise for 4 SISS Babycontrol Apnoea Monitors for the Neonatal Unit. These monitors track the breathing patterns of our tiny babies and alert the NNU staff to any threatening respiratory pauses.

First Touch supports sick and premature babies cared for at St George’s neonatal unit in SW London. We fund state-of-the-art equipment and specialist staff training which are outside of the scope of NHS budgets, as well as a range of initiatives to support families during their stay on the unit.

Story

The Neonatal Unit needs 4 new SISS Babycontrol Apnoea Monitors. These are small pieces of equipment used to monitor the breathing of our tiny babies. NNU staff will be alerted to any threatening pauses in respiratory patterns through an acoustic and a visual alarm. A re-usable sensor is placed on the baby's abdominal wall, so that it can monitor babies who are moving about as well as laying still.

Please help us if you are able to. Thank you!
