Story

Help us to get back on our feet

In 2019 St Davids Hospice Care celebrated 40 years of delivering Hospice Care in the local community. We could not have imagined how difficult 2020/21 would be for us all. St Davids has suffered from a significant financial loss due to our charity shops having to close and the cancellation of all of our fundraising events.

We have seen demand for our services soar throughout the pandemic, and are now appealing to you to help us to get back on our feet so that we can continue to provide essential Hospice Care for all our local Communities.

During the pandemic:

Our nurses continued to visit our patients at home, often staying overnight and working in full PPE.

Our 15 bedded in-patient unit continued to operate with our nursing team working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week often working additional shifts.

Our social workers and welfare rights staff continued to help our patients and their families with psychological and financial support.

The bereavement team were on hand to provide support to those who had lost a loved one, with many of the bereaved losing a loved one to coronavirus.

We have adapted our day hospice care to provide a virtual service to support our patients and have also developed a befriending service for our patients who are socially isolated.

We can only provide these free services because of the support that we receive from people like YOU. If you are able, we would very much appreciate a donation to help us continue our work, and help us to get back on our feet.

Your continued support is crucial to our survival. You have been with us in the past, please stay with us for the future. St Davids Hospice Care is funded by the community for you, your family and loved ones.

The staff could not have been more respectful, caring and helpful when my husband died. The hospice is such a beautiful, peaceful place. Being there helped ease the trauma and uncertainty that my husband and the whole family were facing.

Quote from a family member

Thank you for supporting us over the years, especially during this pandemic which has been a challenging time for us all. We may have cared for one of your family members or a close friend, or we may come in to contact with you in the future. If you feel able to donate you will help to ensure more patients receive the care they deserve.

Kind regards and please stay safe.

Emma.
