Story
On the 6th February at 4.17am, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake followed by aftershocks struck Southern and Central Turkey, killing over 50,000 people, with countless left injured and homeless. Many families have been torn apart and are struggling to make ends meet after this tragedy.
On the 23rd of February, our team hit the ground in Turkey. With your generous donations, Banbury Madni Masjid, working alongside our partners on the ground were able to participate in humanitarian efforts, reaching over 500 people, delivering hot meals, long dated food supplies, tents and medical aid and other essentials to the areas of Gaziantep and other remote villages.
As the blessed month of Ramadan approaches us, we at Banbury Madni Masjid are launching another appeal to help our brothers and sisters, reaching out to the worst affected areas, and supporting those most in need of your donations.
OUR RAMADAN APPEAL
Our £40 Ramadan Food Pack provides essential food items to families in need of support, helping them to observe Suhoor and Iftar with sufficient meals throughout the entire month of Ramadan. We aim to distribute as many food packs as possible, each containing rice, lentils, tea, sugar, cooking oil and other long lasting food supplies. Alongside this, we will continue to support individuals and families rebuild their lives, as well as distributing Zakaat to those eligible.
With your support, we will create three mobile Musallahs/multi-functional gathering spaces in three different locations surrounding communities who will benefit greatly from this. This will serve the local community with a warm, welcoming and safe space for:
Salah
Religious and spiritual gatherings
Taraweeh throughout the blessed month of Ramadan
Communal and social gathering spaces for families and friends
Distribution point for food and other essentials and necessities
A safe environment for children and students to learn
We plan to facilitate these spaces in the most sustainable and efficient way, in hopes that this space will serve the needs of the communities now, and remain as a means of aid and support in the forthcoming years.
We extend our request to you, for your support and generosity in our Ramadan Appeal. Your donations will continue to help our team provide vital support and assistance to those who need it most on the ground in Turkey. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference in the lives of those affected by this disaster.
Let us come together as a community to support our brothers and sisters in Turkey during this devastating time. Your donations can help to provide essential support and aid to those who need it most, and send a message of compassion and solidarity to those affected by the earthquake.
The example of those who spend their wealth in Allahs way is similar to that of a grain which has sprouted seven stalks and in each stalk are a hundred grains; and Allah may increase it still more than this, for whomever He wills; and Allah is Most Capable, All Knowing (Surah Baqarah 261- Quran Al Kareem)
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was asked which fast was most virtuous after Ramadan? He said: "Sha'ban in honour of Ramadan" He said: "Which charity is best?" He (peace be upon him) said: "Charity in Ramadan." (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 663)
We Pray Allah Almighty grants the Shaheed Jannah Tul Firdaus, and give Shifa and healing to those injured, and alleviate all kinds of difficulties and hardships for those effected, May Allah Subhanahu Wa-Ta'ala reward you abundantly for your generosity and support.
