BANGLADESH: THE WORST FLOODS IN A GENERATION
The recent heavy monsoon rains have led to rivers bursting their banks, cutting off around 500,000 people in northeast Bangladesh. Many families are stranded and could run out of food within days!
Sylhet and Sunamganj are worst affected with the entire electricity connection cut off all over Sylhet district earlier on 18th June 2022 due to all sub-stations being submerged in flood water.
Muslim Charity has been working in Bangladesh for over a decade and our Country Coordinator in Bangladesh, Fazlul Karim, said:
The situation here in Bangladesh is absolutely dire. The floods have been described by a government expert as potentially the countrys worst since 2004. Muslim Charity has allocated emergency funding to provide immediate relief to affected families in Sylhet district. We urge supporters to donate generously to help save and rescue lives.
The immediate needs include cooked food, water, emergency shelter and medical aid.
