Barca Leeds is a community charity based in West Leeds. Founded in 1994, we deliver transformational services to adults, children, young people and families in Leeds, bringing people and services together to better respond to the needs of each individual.

Story

On Saturday 24 June, Barca-Leeds staff, friends and colleagues are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise money for Peter's Fund.

All donations to the Fund will directly make a positive difference for people who are at risk of losing their home, or who are homeless and trying to get back on their feet again. By showing your compassion and care during difficult times we can help aid recovery and support people to get back on track. Please donate to help with rising food costs and bills that will completely change someones life.

About the challenge

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a 24 mile round trip route, and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.

The Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These hills form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Peter's Fund

Peter's Fund was set up in memory of our late colleague Peter Richards, who sadly passed away in 2020. Peter worked for housing and homelessness charities for over 30 years and dedicated his working life to making a positive difference in people's lives. For the last 3 years of his life, Peter was the service manager at Engage Leeds helping people who have complex needs and are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless.

The fund has helped countless people with financial support from as little as £5 for a door chain to full house deep cleans that help prevent eviction processes. The benefits to the people we support has been incredible, it makes them feel cared for, valued and part of society again. - Khalid Din, Area Pathway Manager at Engage Leeds
