Story
Taking place on Saturday 16 May, Barca Leeds staff, friends and supporters are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks walk raising vital funds for Peter’s Fund.
Why we're fundraising
At a time when many people are struggling with rising living costs, Peter’s Fund provides vital support — from clothing and heating to essential household items and practical help that enables people to feel safe, valued and ready to rebuild their lives.
Every donation goes directly to people in Leeds who are homeless or at risk of losing their home. Your kindness can help someone facing crisis to stay warm, eat well and take those first steps toward stability and recovery.
By showing your care during such difficult times, you can make a life‑changing difference.
Please donate today to help with rising food costs and household bills — your support could completely transform someone’s life.
About Peter's Fund
Peter’s Fund was created in memory of Peter Richards, who sadly passed away in 2020. Peter worked for housing and homelessness charities for over 30 years and dedicated his working life to making a positive difference in people's lives. For the last 3 years of his life, Peter was the service manager at Engage Leeds a city-wide housing support service, helping the people of Leeds with preventing homelessness, sustaining tenancies and helping integrate them into the community.
The fund continues Peter’s legacy by offering practical financial help—from £5 for a door chain to deep cleans that prevent eviction. These small interventions make a huge impact.
“The benefits to the people we support have been incredible. It makes them feel cared for, valued and part of society again.” – Khalid Din, Area Pathway Manager, Engage Leeds
Yorkshire Three Peaks
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a 24 mile round trip route, and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.
The Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These hills form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
