Barney is just one year old. In his short lifetime, he has only known suffering and pain. Barney suffers from untreated bilateral entropian, a very painful condition that causes the eyelids to turn inwards, resulting in the eyelashes constantly scratching the corneas and causing infection, inflammation and ulcers. Sadly for Barney, in "the worst case of entropian" our vets had ever seen, his left eye could not be saved as the ulcer had ruptured. We are now working hard to save his right eye and Barney has had the first lot of surgery on this.

We know he is at the very beginning of a potentially long journey. He is on a great deal of medication, including regular eye drops, while we fight to save his remaining eye. He will potentially need further corrective surgery once the swelling is reduced and we can see what we are facing.
