Organised by Basecamp Adventure TrustOur Young Leader's are raising money towards their 4-day wild expedition in the Lake District, where they will carry their own kit, cook their own food, and push themselves further than they ever have before on Basecamp!
The Basecamp Young Leaders Programme is a follow-on programme for alumni of the Core Basecamp Programme. It takes place entirely outside of school time and is for those who want to push themselves further and develop leadership skills that will help them in their lives and futures.
Across the year, they attend life skills workshops and adventure days, equipping them with the skills they need for our 4-day wild expedition, which will be the ultimate test of their leadership skills. This will by far be one of the most challenging adventures they have ever been a part of at Basecamp. They will carry all their kit, cook their own food and go without electricity, all the while discovering what it truly means to be a leader.
Our group of Young Leader's have been tasked with raising £3,000 collectively to aid the adventures, to help build independence and initiative.
We have two big fundraising adventures planned to help them on the way, an Abseil and Zipline down the Cow and Calf in Ilkley and a Big 10-mile Fundraising Walk! As well as this, Young Leader's have been asked to come up with their own fundraising ideas to help them reach their target. We can't wait to see what they come up with!

"I would like people to donate to this programme as I feel like it would help many other young people like myself to grow and achieve. From the Young Leader's programme I like to think me and my peers would be able to push ourselves further than we already have on the core programme. This funding would mean a lot to us as it would allow us to grow more and challenge ourselves further than we ever thought possible. It would help us grow multiple skills many employers and colleges hold in high regard and it would mean the absolute world to me if you would donate!".
Hannah told us:
I would say that Basecamp has been a life changing experience for me. Before, I was really introverted and I was even hesitant to do things I really enjoyed but Basecamp taught me that I can do anything if I just believe in myself. The more time I spent with Basecamp, the more I felt empowered and the more confident I became. Basecamp honestly changed my life and I've learnt so much about myself and my own inner strength and it has been the most life changing experience ever.
