The Alexis Family Story

Davis Street has been so very helpful for low-income families, such as me. I have three kids, and (Davis Street) has really helped me throughout the year with Christmas giveaway, backpack giveaway and also back to school giveaway. I appreciate Davis Street so much. It is so important for low-income families because we have a lot of people who are struggling.

I would tell everybody. Sign up for Davis Street. They are very helpful. You will pretty much love it and appreciate it. I really do appreciate Davis Street. I want to say thank you Davis Street from the bottom of my heart.

The Davis Street Back to School Program has helped so many kids. I’ve seen people come in who don't have any shoes for school. They’re ripped. Their parents can’t afford those brand new pairs of shoes for school. And, they've been using hand me downs. So this program is really for those kids that need this little boost. You know, that kid that is looking for that special pair of shoes.

I remember one of the kids who went to the outlet store with us and he had a particular shoe he was looking for and when he found it, he literally cried on the way out. So it was this nice pair of Air Jordan’s. And it was gold. So he was so happy to get those. So that’s what the program is all about. It’s making the kids happy.

Our backpacks are really helpful for all of the kids especially when they are going to high school.

They all want those nice Jansports and a lot of them can't afford it. A lot of our younger kids are looking for that special character backpack. Maybe it’s Minnie Mouse or Frozen or even Pokemon. So for them to get help like that for them, it’s just a great thing. They are so excited when they get it. It makes them feel like they are part of all of the other kids. That they belong.

For the older kids, of course, image is everything. So, for them to have a good Jansport, it makes them feel more self confident and be able to go to school and not feel embarrassed.

About Davis Street Basic Needs Program

Davis Street Basic Needs program provides over 500 backpacks and over 500 new pairs of shoes annually to local children. We’ve also provided groceries to more families than we ever have in our history.

And last year, we provided more than 85,000 service visits to families and individuals, living in the Eden Areas, and the numbers continue to increase.

From now until the end of June, one of our Angel Donors is generously matching any contribution you make. Lets avoid placing a cap on our services due to current revenue limits.
