We are a quicksand, snow & flood Rescue Team that works with Cumbria Fire & Rescue, Lancashire Fire & Rescue, Cumbria & Lancashire Police, North West Ambulance Service and HM Coastguard using Hagglund BV206 all terrain vehicles & 4x4's in the Morecambe Bay, Lake District and North Lancashire area.

Story

Drones, or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are increasingly being utilised by the public safety community due to their low operating costs, the ease in which they can be deployed/operated and the sophisticated remote sensing solutions they can provide. We are now fundraising for a second controller to enhance our operational drone assets further.

Morecambe Bay is a large estuary in northwest England and is the largest expanse of intertidal mudflats and sand in the UK, covering an area of 120 square miles. Bay Search and Rescue (BSAR) provide a 24/7 365 all-terrain rescue and recovery service, covering; flood, snow, inshore, quicksand/mud and wild fires. The team is Defra registered for national flood rescue operations and works closely with Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS), and Lancashire Fire and Rescue (LFRS) under signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) agreements. Maritime SAR operations are co-ordinated by Her Majesty's Coastguard (HMCG).

BSAR have already proved that the use of a drone can potentially save lives and identify missing persons out on the Bay. Your kind donation will help save lives and keep our rescue team safe and effective.
