Giving a child their own bed increases the chance of a better night’s sleep, which can, in turn, lead to improved concentration and performance at school. There are also benefits to a child’s health and wellbeing, and it is known that sleeping alone reduces the risk of abuse. Not only this but it raises a child’s sense of self-esteem to have their very own belongings.

According to Barnado's, 894,000 children across the UK have had to share a bed or sleep on the floor in the last 12 months due to the family suffering from insufficient finances.

We know that for families who are struggling to pay for food and heating, a basic item such as a bed, which many of us take for granted, is sadly just not able to be priority.

At Bromley Brighter Beginnings we provide hundreds of beds every year to children who are currently living without a bed of their very own, or are sleeping in a broken or unsuitable bed.

We believe EVERY child is entitled to a bed of their very own.

We supply beds to families who have been referred to us by local professionals such as social workers, health visitors or teachers, who must have visited the family home and confirmed the need for our help.

We provide beds with in-built storage, because the families we assist often struggle for space.

And our bed suppliers deliver and install the beds for our families because they may not have the tools to do so themselves.

Each single bed complete with mattress, bedding, delivery and installation costs around £305. A bunk bed for two children currently costs £665.
