Bethlehem Cultural Festival 2021

Created via charity sign up service.

Story

Bethlehem Cultural Festival was established in January 2020 to highlight cultural activity, heritage and arts from Bethlehem, Palestine and the broader region of the Eastern Mediterranean. In December 2020 the festival events were held online with great success cookery, theatre, music, dance and panel discussions were some of the events that featured.

This annual, independent festival, which is both digital and physical, will take place on 2nd and 3rd December in London followed by 4th and 5th December in Glasgow. We will be hosting live panel discussions between contributors in London, Glasgow and Bethlehem as well as featuring events online.

We are a group of volunteers in the UK and Bethlehem but, while much of the funding is in place, the festival has costs that you may be able to help with

Our aim is to raise £10,000 in addition to the £6,000 already raised through contributions from people who wish to support our work to shine a light on the arts and culture of Palestine and to readdress the rich cultural heritage of that region through events there and in the UK.

Your donation will help us to present the Festival to audiences in London, Glasgow and across the world, as well as supporting artists in and from Palestine and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Funding will help with the costs of:

- Commissioning original compositions from Palestinian musicians a rock band, a nay player and a guitarist.

- A unique collaboration between the National Piping Centre in Glasgow and Scout Bands in Bethlehem

- Filming events in Palestine for Festival audiences

- Marketing and PR costs of reaching a large audience previously unengaged in Palestine

- Production costs

- Venue hires
