The Children’s Community Nurses and Palliative Care Team delivers palliative and end of life care to children and young people on their palliative journey.

BCHC Charity's mission is to enhance patient experience and improve their time within the care of BCHC services by funding the extras that are not covered by the core NHS funds. Over the years, we have supported the team by funding several projects, initiatives, and items to support children, and their families and loved ones, during their last months, to help families build wonderful memories together, provide treasured keepsakes, and aid families and carers in processing their grief. Here’s how your donations could make a difference for the team:

• £10 could fund 3 memory boxes which can be given to families for collecting precious memories of their child

• £50 could provide 5 bereavement support children’s books the help the siblings of children in complex and palliative care to learn about emotions, death, and grieving in an age-appropriate way

• £100 could cover the cost of the materials to create 3 hand or foot casts so that families can create a beautiful keepsake of their child

• £500 could provide a selection of arts and crafts supplies and sensory toys for the Activity Library, to keep children entertained and happy during appointments and waiting times

• £1,000 could allow us to take 8 families of four for a trip to the pantomime, giving them the opportunity to create a lasting memory of a fun experience with their children
