Bear's Hug

Bear's Hug was set up by the friends and family of Neil 'The Bear' Oakley, who sadly lost his fight with cancer in October 2017. Proceeds from this fundraising campaign will be used to help children and young people with cancer at The Royal Marsden.

Story

Neil "The Bear" Oakley was taken from us far too soon on 18th October 2017, following a brave, long fight with Cancer.

Neil was a devoted family man and friend to us all and his passing has left a massive hole in all of our lives.

By way of tribute to the life Neil led, as well as being able to show his young children Freddie and Edie how loved their Dad was, a group of Neil's family and friends have decided to set up "Bear's Hug".

Named after Neil's very popular nickname (a story in itself!), the aim is to raise money in memory of Neil; with all proceeds going to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, where Neil received outstanding care through the years of his battle. All money raised will be used to help young families and children affected by this disease, in the hope that one day we can find a cure, but in the meantime lend support and comfort to those who need it most.

Anyone can fundraise in honour of Neil under this banner; be it a charity dance, a marathon or something else, we will provide you with the tools and support to fundraise.
