Lambourne Church is a 900 year old grade 2 listed church in the parish of Lamboune, located in the south of Essex. It is hard to believe from such a tranquil setting that the church is within the M25.

The very age of the church means that the maintenance of the building is paramount. There is always a never list of things that need doing on the inside and out to keep the church in good order.

Sometimes, good things come from bad situations. Recently the Took monument in the south of the Chancel , broke at a corroded fixing. Specialist investigation, dismantling, repair and conservation have been carried out. Whilst doing this remnants of an old niche door opening were found in the wall behind the monument. The monument was repaired and relocated slightly to the east to allow some of the old opening arch to be seen.
