Story
This year, our team (Fi, Chrissie, Jen, Katie, Paige & Ruth) is taking on the Brecon Beacons 10 Peak Challenge from 22nd-25th May 2026 - a demanding endurance trek across one of Wales’ most breathtaking landscapes. The Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog in Welsh) is one of Wales’ most spectacular national parks, and over a single weekend we’ll traverse rugged ridges, sweeping moorland and deep valleys that define the dramatic beauty of this wild place.
Covering ten peaks is no small feat. The challenge will push us physically and mentally, testing resilience, determination and teamwork at every step. But this journey is about far more than reaching summits. It’s a celebration of solidarity, adventure and what’s possible when people come together with a shared purpose.
We’re taking on this challenge to raise vital funds for Becoming Mums, a charity dedicated to supporting mothers* through pregnancy, birth and early motherhood. Becoming a mum can be one of the most profound transitions in life, but it can also be isolating, overwhelming and emotionally challenging. Becoming Mums provides safe, supportive spaces, connection, and compassionate support for women at a time when they need it most.
Too many mothers struggle in silence. By supporting this challenge, you’re helping ensure that mums don’t have to face this journey alone - that they’re seen, heard and supported in both their physical and mental wellbeing. Your donation helps ensure mums are not left to cope alone. It enables us to deliver bi-monthly groups, workshops and speaker sessions, alongside gentle yoga, socials and other activities that build peer connection, reduce isolation, boost confidence and ease anxiety — all in free, welcoming spaces led by trained facilitators, with refreshments that help mums feel supported and at home. This support is urgently needed: the latest MBRRACE-UK report shows that nearly half of women who died during or after pregnancy had mental health problems, and mental health is the leading cause of death between six weeks and one year after birth. With 1 in 4 women experiencing perinatal mental health difficulties, we can provide early, preventative support when it can make the greatest difference.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps us turn this tough weekend in the mountains into lasting impact for mums and families. Thank you for backing us, believing in the power of community, and helping us make every step count. 💛
** When we use the term mother, we refer to anyone who has experienced pregnancy, given birth, identifies as a mother or as a woman or non-binary carer.
