Story
Beer is a small rural village in East Devon. We have an active scout group comprising of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers.
We use the minibus to get the young people out and about to experience life outside the village.
We go climbing in Exeter, walking on Dartmoor, and Camping as far afield as Norfolk. Taking the Scouts to London for a monopoly run.
The bus is also used more locally to take them all out to the local woods which is not within walking distance on a troop night.
The village Primary school also uses the bus to take the children to swimming lessons at the local pool and other days out they have.
Other local clubs in the village also use the bus to take their members out and about. These range from the "Best Years Club" to the WI and the Buffs men's club.
The bus gives the scout group so much freedom and is sorly missed. Its like we have had our wings clipped
Unfortunately on one outing earlier this year, the engine made a strange sound and stopped working altogether which meant the bus had to be recovered back to the village. We were told by the local garage that it will need a new engine. This came just after we spent money on getting the bus through the MOT.
It's not a viable option to replace the engine as it could work or not. Therefore we are now raising money for a replacement second hand bus.
We are doing all sorts of things from Quizzes to sausage sizzle to help raise the money.
We do hope you can support us in getting back on the road.
