Update November 2022 - In order to meet the desire for the work to be completed in time for the Church's 150th Anniversary in August 2023, an order has now been placed onto Taylor's. This is in anticipation of securing the shortfall in the monies still required between now and then, so we still need your help, please! Any donation of whatever size, will be greatly appreciated.

Update September 2022 - thank you to all our online and offline donors - Great news that we now have two donors who have each agreed to pay for the casting of one of the two new light trebles.

Update 25/3/22 Thank you to everyone who has made a donation and/or bought items from our online shop. We have just received the wonderful news that our Church has been awarded a combined £30,500 by the main and local Lancashire Association of Change Ringers Bell Restoration Funds towards our project.

Update 14/9/21 - A sincere thank you to all those people who have already donated towards this project..To have raised over £16,000 already is truly amazing.

14/2/21 - Launch Story

We need your help, please!

The existing peal of eight bells was installed in 1891 and a major overhaul was undertaken in 1955. In the last three years, however, as time and wear have taken their toll, there have been various instances of repair work having to be undertaken (including a broken clapper and sheared bolts) to keep the bells going.

We have reached the point where major work will be required in order to keep the bells ringing safely. A survey has been undertaken by Taylors of Loughborough which has recommended options for a complete retune, rehang with new fittings and a potential augmentation to 10 bells.

We are delighted to announce the launch of a special project which will help ensure that the only peal of Church bells in St Anne's can ring out for many years to come. The aim is for the project to be completed in time for the 150th Anniversary of the consecration of the Church which is in August 2023.

To undertake this project, we need to raise in the region of £120,000 and donations of any size would be most gratefully received.

Grants will also be sought and, as many of these offer match funding, your donations will help us maximise any potential revenue from such grants.

With coronavirus restrictions in place, we are currently unable to host local fundraising events (tower tours, etc) so any contributions on this site now will help get the initial activities under way. There will also be an opportunity for individuals or businesses to sponsor a particular part of the project, such as a new bell, wheel or bellrope, with the option for an inscription/plaque on an item in memory of a loved one, etc, or for any donation to remain anonymous.

We would love to get the project off to a flying start and get orders placed to meet the required timescale. If you would like more information please see the bellringer's facebook page www.facebook.com/stannesringers or email bellmad75@outlook.com
