Story
Help us create a spectacular new Wildlife Viewing Gallery at RSPB Bempton Cliffs
Every year, around half a million seabirds gather along Bempton’s towering chalk coastline, creating one of the UK’s greatest wildlife spectacles.
Now we want to create a new Wildlife Viewing Gallery – an inspiring and accessible place where everyone can experience the sights and sounds of Bempton’s seabirds.
Increasing cliff-top erosion means we need to replace the existing Grandstand viewpoint. Our ambition is not simply to replace it, but to create something new: a beautifully designed Viewing Gallery that sits harmoniously within this extraordinary landscape and safeguards access for generations to come.
Our vision
We’re delighted to share the first concept designs by structureHaus for the new Grandstand, giving a glimpse of how this spectacular new Viewing Gallery could look.
Take a look at our vision below – and help us make it a reality.

The new Grandstand Viewing Gallery will:
• Bring people closer to nature, with more perspectives and views across the cliffs with their thousands of Puffins, Gannets, Kittiwakes, Guillemots, Razorbills and Fulmars.
• Improve accessibility, with a larger viewing perimeter and improved pathways, helping more people enjoy this unforgettable wildlife experience.
• Blend into the landscape, with a long-lasting cantilevered design inspired by the shape of the cliffs, transparent balustrades and well considered materials.
• Protect wildlife, with construction carefully planned to minimise disturbance, including work carried out off-site wherever possible.
• Support vital seabird monitoring, providing an important base for volunteers carrying out citizen science and helping us understand how Bempton’s internationally important seabird populations are changing.
Help us make it happen
We’re aiming to raise £85,000 towards the detailed design and next stages of developing the new Grandstand.
Your support will also help us unlock further funding to take this ambitious project forward.
More than 120,000 people visit Bempton Cliffs every year. For many, standing on the cliff top surrounded by thousands of seabirds is their first experience of nature on this breathtaking scale.
With your help, we can create a Grandstand for Nature, accessible to all – an extraordinary place to experience, understand and protect Bempton’s seabirds for generations to come.
Please donate today and help us make it happen.
**We’re excited about our plans for a new Wildlife Viewing Gallery and are working hard to take them forward. The £85,000 raised through this appeal will contribute towards the project, and additional funding will be needed. If, for any reason, the project cannot go ahead as planned, funds raised through this appeal will be used to support other vital work at RSPB Bempton Cliffs, helping to protect its wildlife and ensure people can continue to experience this extraordinary place.
Thank You.
