The aim
The aim is to raise £20,000 by undertaking this truly challenging event. This is the cost of food for all the children at The Bombolulu Educational Centre in Mombasa, Kenya for a whole year. A school for extremely poor, and often vulnerable, secondary age children. Their alternative to school is teenage marriage and pregnancies or menial work for the girls and possible street gangs and drugs for the boys. Please help to keep the children in school and fed. Hungry children cannot learn
Hopefully about half will be raised from Kenya and the other half from current supporters mainly, but not exclusively, in the UK.
HOPE
Without this school, these kids have no hope. No hope of realising their dreams. No hope of receiving food at all, let alone two nutritious meals a day. No hope of reaching their full potential. And these children dream big, they do have potential. With your help, they stand a chance of competing for jobs with children who go to schools that charge fees.
The challenge
Ben was born in the UK and, early in his career, was a teacher - later working for DHL in Kenya for 18 years. Although he has lived in Kenya for well over 30 years, the climate on this extreme challenge is going to be hard for him. The route travels through reserves and over hills for 5 days under the hot Kenyan sun. This is no walk in the park! Please support Ben in his crazy challenge as the kids need our help - they desperately need food.
Food
The cost of food has soared in Kenya in recent years, putting a strain on our budget. Core costs of the school are £60,000 per year, with food being a major factor. Your help to cover this cost would be very, very much appreciated.
If we are lucky enough to exceed our target, any additional funds will go towards purchasing the text books, exercise books and stationery that are so essential for the children to be able to learn. They too are a major part of our budget and your help would be very welcome indeed.

A pupil in her home - the poverty our children come from is extreme by any standards. This girl is the only child in her entire community that attends school. Please help us to give more children the chance of an education.
