The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileEnergy costs are skyrocketing, and we are now facing inflation at 40-year highs. Many people are just not able to make ends meet in this climate of insecurity
Better Together Norfolk (a project run by Voluntary Norfolk) aims to release 'Better Cooking Together'.
This project will distribute slow cookers, for free, to clients of Better Together Norfolk and other Voluntary Norfolk services such as Carers Matter Norfolk. Depending on the level of funding raised this could also be extended to vulnerable clients of partner services Better Together Norfolk work with daily.
A slow cooker has several benefits, such as hands-off cooking, conservation of energy, and bringing out the flavour in most foods. They also promote healthy cooking and are easier to use than most cooking appliances. Theyre also perfect for a busy household where time is precious, especially as they save on washing up.
Further to this your donation will help with the running of a series of classes to help people prepare healthy ingredients that are both cheap to buy and cheap to cook. It will also help us to supply slow cookers to support our clients in reducing energy bills.
We are teaming up with Nigel Ramsbottom (Delia Smiths Head Chef from Carrow Road) to champion and deliver the live cooking sessions. Predominantly using slow cookers for economy, Nigel will lead and support the classes in preparing delicious, healthy and cheap to make meals.
During this time of high inflation and rising energy bills the opportunity to help the most vulnerable in our communities through your support for this project will help those struggling with fuel poverty.
