Bread slicing machine for BFC

If we could slice our bread donations for our customers we would be able to double the quantity available and therefore fight food costs whilst reducing food waste! It would be the ideal solution to ensure all our members can access quality loaves.

In 2024 the BFC helped over 1400 members feed their families with good, nutritious, affordable food. Over the year, we redistributed over 60,000kg of food, filling over 10,000 members' baskets, helping our neighbours and the planet.

Story

The BFC operates as a food pantry/hub 3 days a week. On an average shop day we see approximately 75 customers accessing foods for themselves and those they live with. We rely almost entirely on donations and one food that is always in demand is bread! We are fortunate enough to benefit from the generosity of St Johns Bakery, Gail’s Bakery and other independent bakers within our locality. The bread is of an exceptional quality but comes as large loaves that are often too big for our customers. By having a bread slicing machine we would be able to ensure the bread was portioned out to ensure there was enough to go around and also be easier for our customers to keep thus reducing food waste. It’s a simple solution to a problem we want to solve. The bread machine we need would be a commercial style slicer as we would be using it to slice in excess of 200 loaves a week. Any contribution towards this campaign would be incredibly helpful!
