Join schools and families taking part in our Big Bay Birdwatch this October half-term by doing your own sponsored birdwatch to raise funds for Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory Trust. Download your sponsorship form and bird ID sheet here to get started, OR create your own JustGiving fundraiser for our event to start collecting sponsorship funds online.
When? October half-term: anytime between 26th October - 1st November 2020
(or whenever you have time).
Decide where you want to do your birdwatch, grab your notebook and record what birds you see for half an hour, then send us your sightings. Go it alone or get the whole family involved and learn about the birds you find as you go. You could try a local nature reserve, or even set up a bird feeding station in your garden and spot birds from the comfort of your own home.
YOUNG PEOPLE NEED NATURE AND NATURE NEEDS YOUNG PEOPLE.
It is vital for conservation that young people grow up realising the need to protect the world around them by learning and caring about their environment. We think that watching wildlife is a fun way to fall in love with nature!
The Observatory has been closed since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds raised from the Big Bay Birdwatch will help our small charity continue with our important work, from monitoring the wildlife of the Sandwich Bay area to providing nature engaging workshops and events both in schools, and at the SBBO Field Centre.
If you are taking part with your school, please return your sightings and collected money in a sealed envelope to your school OR send your sponsorship money to us via this campaign page. If you are donating online, please still give all your bird sightings to your school so we can collate all the results.
If you aren't taking part with your school but giving it a go yourself via JustGiving, you can still email us the list of birds that you saw during the Big Bay Birdwatch.
Our fundraising team are here to help every step of the way, just drop us an email at info@sbbot.org.uk.
After the event we'll share the results and let you know what kind of things we can do for young people with the money raised!
